My wife's grandfather, Glenn Henry Sproles, also worked at the Great Southern Lumber Company probably in the late teens. A couple of days ago I found www.lib.lsu.edu/special/findaid/g3225.html that describes a collection of photographs and picture post cards of buildings, machinery, and various operations of the Great Southern Lumber Company sawmill, and its subsidiary, the Bogalusa Paper Company, in the LSU Library collection. The description of the collection includes a short history of the company that might be of interest to you.
That is as far as I've gotten. I looked for a historical society in Bogalusa whose members might know about the GSLC records but I haven't found one yet.
By the way, I found my way to the LSU collection by entering Great Southern Lumber Company as a search subject on Google!
