Suzy, do you know if your Dixon family is connected to a Mathews family? You see my great grandfather's name was Riley Dixon. He was supposedly born 2/3/1873 0r 1875. The story is that when he was 5 yrs old he lived with a Mathews family who came to Avoyelles Parish. Riley was supposedly born in St. Landry Parish. he was baptised in 1949 while he was an old man and listed his parents as Gallus Dixon and Elnora Mathews. I can't find any information on a Gallus and the only information I have on an Elnora Mathews is that she married a William Riley in Mississippi in 1912. Once when Riley was an older man and his children were grown and married, a man came to Bunkie, LA looking for Riley. This man stayed in Bunkie for 5 days. Riley would not go see this man. His comment was that they didn't want him as a child he didn't need them now. Not even any of his children would go see who this man was or what he wanted. We don't even know where this man came from. I can't seem to get any leads anywhere on Riley. Most of us Dixons are blond or light brown hair, blue, bluegreen and green eyed. But of course that means nothing. Riley was a petit man and would not speak any French although his wife spoke only French. He'd answer her back in English. So I was just wondering if by some kind of fate my Riley Dixon could be connected to your family of Dixons. I'm not holding out much hope though but thank you for taking the time to read this.

Marlene
