John R Shultz married Margaret Jane Honeycutt, daughter of Austin Honeycutt. John and his family are on the 1860 Rapides Parish census. The household consists of John and Margaret and a daughter, Pomelia age 1, and Benjamin F Shultz age 20 born Missouri. Pomelia is not on the 1870 Union Parish census. John and Margaret have another child, Frank Monroe Shultz 19 Feb 1861 - 1 Nov 1882.
John R Shultz filed for a Louisiana Confederate Pension in Union Parish and stated he was born in Jasper Co, Missouri 17 Apr 1834. He stated he came to Louisiana in 1855.
John died 21 June 1905 in W Monroe and is buried in the Farmerville Cemetery. Margaret filed for a Confederate Widows Pension stating they were married in Union Parish on 2 Sept 1858. Margaret died 14 Aug 1917.
How does John R Shultz relate to the other Shultz families of Union Parish? Could John, Joseph and Benjamin Shultz be brothers? Any information would be appreciated.
