I am researching the Lewis Abbott family of Perry Co. Alabama. Lewis Abbott was born Feb. 4, 1792 place unknown and died Feb. 22, 1848 in Perry Co. His wife was Nancy Tubbs who died Dec. 12, 1838 in her 39th year[born abt 1799, place unknown]. They were married according to LDS in 1817, Montgomery, Mississippi [Territory]. The Perry Co. 1830 and 1840 Census records indicate a large family. I know several children moved to Union Parish, LA including two sons James Abbott, born abt 1817; Daniel born abt 1820; and two daughters Nancy, born abt 1837 and married James Williams in 1851; and Sarah born Aug. 6, 1836 and married Richard Tubb Moore on July 1, 1852. Also listed in the 1850 census as a head of household is a Mrs. Sarah Abbott which I think is a widowed sister-in-law. The daughters, Nancy and Sarah, are younger sisters who appear to have been living with older brothers prior to marriage. By 1860 Janes Abbott has left Union Parish and has moved to Cherokee Co Texas. I believe another brother, Joseph Abbott born abt. 1824, has moved to Union Parish from Arkansas. I believe another sister, Harriet Abbott Sanders Cammack is living in Union County, Arkansas which adjoins Union Parish Louisiana. Remaining in Perry Co. in 1850 are several sisters and Lewis C. Abbott age 17 in household with sister Jane A. Abbott, born abt. 1824, wife of Green B. Sanders. Augustus Abbott living with his mother Zelatis Abbott. I suspect Eliza Abbott Brand and Mary Abbott Curb are also daughters of Lewis but I have no proof other than maiden name, correct age, and married in Perry Co. at this time. Additional details listed below:

James Abbott, b’abt 1817, married Ansenal, Aroenal, Arrena sp?? [1850, Union, LA; 1860, Cherokee Co Texas]

Daniel       Abbott, b’abt 1820, married Lydia [1850, 1860, Union Parish, LA]

Nancy Abbott, b’abt 1837 [age 23 in 1860 Union census], married James Williams 1851

Susan C. Abbott, b’abt 1838, [1850 school; 1860 Perry Co] married John Belcher 1856

Children of Lewis Abbott and Zelatis [spelling varies] Tyson Abbott [married Nov. 24, 1840] :

Lydia A. Abbott, Oct. 30, 1842, died Feb. 8, 1847

Augustus T. Abbott b’abt 1844 [1870 living with mother, Z. Flinn; his occupation is school teacher, Perry Co]

A number of families moved from Perry Co to Union Parish including Abbott, Tubb and Moore. I know Perry Co residents William Moore and Sarah Tubb Moore [parents of Richard Tubb Moore husband of Sarah Abbott]were both born in South Carolina. I have provided the Tubb/Moore information because these families appear to be connected and I suspect the Tubbs/Abbott may be related. I am very interested in pursuing Lewis Abbott and his wife Nancy Tubbs. My information hits a dead end with them.
