MORE ON LEROY BYRD
This is what I've found so far...still verifying... Name could be
spelled Lee Roy...
He was born in Bedias, TX in 1876...died in 1923...buried in LeFlore County, Oklahoma in town of Poteau...buried in a cemetery next to dick miller's funeral home...
He spent time in Louisiana State Prison somewhere between 1900 and 1923...family says committed murder, as did his son, frank...i don't know if this is the same crime committed together or not...but granny was born in 1904 in Texas so I believe the crime was committed after that...family says that they left Oklahoma on a Wagon train and the crime was commited en route to Louisiana...I'm not sure where it happened...
i recently found Leroy's mother to be Martha Jane Randall...daughter of Allen J. Randall b. ca 1815 and Sarah A. Massey b. ca 1816...both in MS...according to census records and what i found on the web...both their fathers were fro NC and both mothers fromTN...they were in MS in 1836 to AL to MS to AL then to Caldwell parish, LA by 1850, to Bowie County Texas by 1860, then to Grimes County, TX.. their children:
1. Louisa "Lou" b. 1836 MS married Champion
2. Almanza "Allie" b. 1838 AL m/William Flourony Smith Hensley
3. Joel G. b. ca 1841 MS m/S. J. Champion
4. Martha Jane b. ca 1844 MS m/1 Sheffield had.......Meadie and Lige m/2 UNKNOWN Byrd... had Israel (Isreal) leroy Jackson Byrd m/Laura Elizabeth MAy and Josephine m/ John F. Capps m/3 Joseph Franklin Parker...had Joseph Franklin m/ Ever Ray Capps LAURA ELIZABETH (MAY) BYRD
