Betty, Have you ever heard of a Yetta Goss? I actually am doing the Durbin, Starns, Kinchen Howze, famalies but I came across this:
1900 Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana Vol 42 E.D. 83 Sheet 10 Line 69 Ward 3 Roseland Lists Howell Durbin , 57 years old, born September 1849 and wife Julia ( C. Mack) Durbin, 45 years old, born October 1854. Living with them is a young girl named Yetta , 3 years old, born June 1897. There is no other last name so I thought she might be a Durbin but I found her in the Durbin Cemetery. Her maiden name was Yetta Goss born 15 June 1897 and died 24 December 1965. She married Robert Clayton Durbin ,son of Christofer C. Durbin and Virginia Sharkey. He was born 22 September 1893 and died 24 December 1965 along with their daughter Monteil (Durbin) McElveen, born 28 October 1925 and grandson Denny Brooks McElveen, Jr.,born 16 November 1956 who died on the same date. I imagine it was an auto accident. I'll have to find out one day.
Yetta (Goss) Durbin could have been Howell and Julia's granddaughter. I don't know since I don't have any of their children.(if they had any)
I was just wondering how Yetta Goss happened to be on the census with the Durbin family. Did her family die and they were her foster family or is she related? I propably could send for a death certificate but you know how you get bogged down sometimes. Just thought you might have heard something about her.
