My Nelson family is descended from Carl Christian Nelson, b. 1854 in Denmark. Carl came to U.S. in 1864, moved to Illinois
and married Augusta Hannah Brinker. Listed in 1880 census in Illinois. They moved to Minnesota in early 1880's and operated a dairy. Carl and Augusta moved to Hammond,
LA, abut 1898/1899 and had a dairy. Carl also owned a local seed and feed store facing the railroad track in Hammond. Listed in 1900 Census for Tangipahoa Parish, LA. with wife and children.
Children were: George, Julia, May, Jennie, Charles, Della. Carl remarried after Augusta died and had a son Edward.
