I am researching William McCLENDON and Mary HAYS McClendon's descendents. Their children lived in and around the "toe of the boot of Louisiana." This area includes: Washington, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, East and West Feliciana, and Saint Tammany Parishes in Louisiana and the adjacent counties in Mississippi, including: Amite, Pike, Walthall, Marion and Pearl River.

William McCLENDON (Bet. 1820 - 1822 - about 1863 in Civil War?) married Mary HAYS / HAYES (Dec 10, 1828 - Feb 1888) on April 22, 1851 in St. Helena Parish, LA. She was the daughter of Parker HAYS (HAYES) and ? See URL: http://mcclendon.rootsweb.com/mcclendon/mcclendons.html

They had at least 4 children:

1.) John Franklin McCLENDON (about 1852 - after 1930) married: "Betsy" Elizabeth JENKINS about 1871, and later Lethe or Letha JENKINS after 1892. One of his sons was: Leon Franklin McCLENDON. It is believed, but not proved yet that Henry Lester McCLENDON and Mary Katherine McCLENDON were also his children. See URL: http://mcclendon.rootsweb.com/mcclendon/Leon.html

2.) Serena McCLENDON (Jan 1855 - Aft. 1900) married: William Harrison TRAVIS (Jan 1844 - 1845 - 1932) between 1871 - 1872 in St. Helena Parish, LA.

3.) Joseph P(arker?) McCLENDON (Mar 09, 1857 - about 1863 in the Civil War?) married: Julia Ann LOTT (Nov 29, 1857 - 1859 - Jul 23, 1933) abt 1881 in Pearl River Co., MS?, and then Laura Elizabeth PERRY on Jan 16, 1896 in Tangipahoa Parish, LA.

4.) Mary? Ellen McCLENDON (Dec 14, 1860 - May 1897) married: Joseph Gustave Hansford LEBO / LeBEAU (Dec 20, 1855 in LA - 1923) about 1881 in Tangipahoa Parish, LA?

Plus, we are related to:

Archibald "Archie" McCLENDON and Ophelia WAKER's descendents
(see URL: http://mcclendon.rootsweb.com/mcclendon/Archie%20M%20McClendon,%20and%20sons%20-%20Daniel,%20Ely%20W%20and%20Edward%20D%20McClendon.html) because their sons married Mary? Ellen McCLENDON and Joseph Gustave Hansford LEBO / LeBEAU's daughters:

"Eli," Elijah William McCLENDON married Josephine Valentine LEBO

Edward (Thomas or D) McCLENDON married Theony Srena LEBO

Also in this area were but no proven relationships, yet, were:

--> Alfred McCLENDON and Pamelia (or Vermelia) McKIE (Clinton, East Feliciana Parish, LA). See URL: http://mcclendon.rootsweb.com/mcclendon/AlfredMcClendon.html

--> Thomas Green McCLENDON or a.k.a., T. G. McCLENDON, and Ella Wren DAWSON McClendon (Clinton, East Feliciana Parish, LA). See URL: http://mcclendon.rootsweb.com/mcclendon/ThomasGreenMcClendon.html

--> Jesse Bryan McCLENDON born in GA (son of John?) and Marguerite or Margaret Rebecca HUTCHINSON (St. Helena Parish, LA). See URL: http://mcclendon.rootsweb.com/mcclendon/JesseBryanMcClendon.html

--> James Madison McLENDON (b: May 11, 1848 in GA - d: Aug 26, 1929; buried in Adams Cemetery, Washington Parish, LA) married Elizabeth "Sissy," ADAMS. See URL: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mcclendon/Bogalusa/index.html#Who
