Joseph Edward Gray had a sister named Emily, or Emma, or Sarah or a combination...who lived in Slidell, LA. She bought a round-trip train ticket and went to McLain MS early in 1916 to help my grandmother, Maggie Gray Green. Maggie died January 16, 1916, and Emily died in McLain less than a month later. I do not know her married name, nor do I know where she is buried, but I do know her body was returned to Slidell by train (presumably with her round-trip ticket)shortly after her death. I have searched the cemeteries listed on-line for St. Tammany Parish and have not found an Emily buried by the first of March 1916. Does anyone know if there is a newspaper that regularly published obituaries in Slidell in 1916? Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I might find her? If I find her I'm hoping I can get a death certificate and learn the name of her mother and my g-grandfather, Joseph Edward Gray. He died 20 years later and his mother was listed as unknown. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated. Lou Ann Notify Administrator about this message?
