Hi Heather.

I wondered about Maurice's marriage(s) on the census. It seems that either he was married twice, or his wife's age is wrong. You might want to check the 1920 census and see who he is listed with.

I agree with you that it seems odd that they weren't educated. My grandparents attended school in the 1920s and 1930s, and I know my grandmother's parents and grandparents were highly educated people. It's possible that the schools weren't as readily accessible in the rural areas at the turn of the century?
