Louisiana ROMEs in St. James Parish

Friends-

For several years I have been creating a database of the Louisiana ROMEs, descendants of Johannes ROMMEL. It is on-line at Ancestry.com, database MadVintner. As part of my ongoing effort to expand this database, I have explored the 1850-1900 census indexes and the Baton Rouge church records. I have posted comments and questions about this family on the ROME message board at genforum.genealogy.com.

Many of these ROMEs lived in St. James Parish. My father-in-law was born in Lutcher, although he subsequently moved to St. Charles Parish.

If you are interested in this early Louisiana family, and have data about the ROME family that could help me to correct or expand my databse, I would love to hear from you at MadVintner@aol.com.

Cheers,
Matt Sanders
