Johnsons in 1820 St. Helena Census
Posted by: JOHN JOHNSON (ID *****6303) Date: July 05, 2006 at 09:03:32
  of 126

The 1820 St.Helena Census included a household headed by
John Johnson. I believe John Johnson was a brother of Lott
Johnson, who moved his family from GA to LA in 1809,with a
group of Dyches (Dykes) family members. Lott's wife Leila
(nickname Leely) was also a Dykes, daughter of Isaac of
Barnwell County, SC. Abel Dykes, Leila's uncle, was also with this group.

In 1811, John Johnson, apparently Lott's brother, arrived in St. Helena Parish from Burke County,GA, which implies that Lott had died, since he was missing from the 1820 census, and that John had come to help the family.

An outline descendant chart of Lott's family follows:

1..Lott Johnson 1775-
..+Leila Dykes 1775-
......2 Elijah Johnson 1800-
........+Jeniah Ott, Mrs. 1800-
......2 Hanson Harrison Johnson 1804-1881
........+Lucinda Wainwright 1810-
......2 Elizabeth Johnson 1805-1882
........+James A. Miller 1793-1850
......2 William Dykes Johnson 1808-1857
........+Cynthia Miller 1805-1868
......2 Unknown Johnson (female) 1811-
