I am trying to locate family members of my Dixon family from Sabine, Louisiana.
Most of what is written here has been contributed by Mary McInnis and Billie Dixon Doughtery, and others who descend from this Dixon family.
This is what we know:
William D. Dixon son of David Dixon and Elizabeth Vendrick. William D.Dixon married Mary Reeves on February 12, 1836 in Lawrence Co., MS. William D.Dixon, was born in abt. 1810 in the Sumter District of South Carolina. and he died on July 1, 1867. His wife Mary Reeves, was the daughter of Leonard Reeves and Elizabeth Varnado. Mary Reeves, was born August 20, 1816 in South Carolina and she died before July 5, 1873 in Vernon Parish, Louisiana. She is buried in the Beach Grove Cemetery. (My question where is this cemetery?)
William D. Dixon, and his entire household were listed in the 1850 St. Helena Parish Census.
William D. Dixon, was probably buried in Louisiana. He moved his family to Sabine Parish and settled on land near Big Sandy Creek. Their son Charles Hugh Dixon, was only 15 years old at the time the family moved there by wood axle wheeled wagon drawn by a yoke of oxen.
William D. Dixon, had a brother by the name of Abel Dixon, who married Nancy Reeves, the probable sister of Mary Reeves.
The children of William D. Dixon and Mary Reeves are:
ELIZABETH ANN DIXON, who married William McElveen on August 8, 1853 in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana. She was born abt. 1838. Her husband was born February 22, 1832 in Mississippi. He died in 1913 in probably Louisiana.
