Dear David...I wonder if your John Roberts b. about 1825 is the son of Nathan Roberts and Abigail Bishop.(same b. year and parts of the family went to TX) Nathan a son of Cornelius and Mary Benton Roberts. This line went to Tx with others of the Cornelius' sons and nephews. I am researching the Roberts in Shelby CO. as Cornelius' son, Isaac and 2nd wife Rhoda (Carr?) Roberts settled in Tenehaw and were there for the 1835 census with children, Thomas, Henry, Nancy, Sina Anna and Lucy/Crecia. But..nephews, sons of Nathan and Daniel Roberts were a help to her in the settling of Isaac's estate in 1840 or so (he died 1839). She moved back to Shelby, (for some reason they had left Shelby and were in Gonzales/Caldwell CO. when Isaac died.) But she is there in 1850 living with Lucy and a William Kerr who I believe was her brother. I'd enjoy hearing more about your family. There seems to be a high use of familiar names. Terri
