TORNADO IN SABINE PARISH
Posted by: Mabel E. Parks Date: October 02, 2000 at 18:15:35

Does anyone know of a tornado hitting Sabine Parish in the early 1880's. There was a tornado in DeSoto Parish in Nov. 1880. My gg grandfather - John H. Silman/Sylman appears in the 1880 census in Converse, La., along with him family. Sometime thereafter he was killed in a tornado. He was the nephew of John G. Wright and Martha Heard Wright who are buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery between Converse and Pleasant Hill. These families were from Union Parish, La. Were there newspapers in this area in the 1880's? Are there church records supporting his burial?

Can anyone help me find John H.Silman?. I would love to visit his gravesite. Elaine Silmon Parks
