Robert Semple-Poet Laureate of Point Coupee
Posted by: Seaborn Johnson, III (ID *****2791) Date: January 04, 2003 at 20:18:56
  of 200

I am descended from Robert Semple, IV via his youngest child
(John Burruss Semple). The Semple's were originally from the Woodville, MS area owning both Desert and Wyoming Plantations. Robert Semple, IV lived in Point Coupee at
Jubilee Cottage where he was a Tri-Parish District Attorney, Judge, and Politician. He died in 1905 in New Orleans.

I am trying to ascertain if there are any other Semple descendents? My Great Aunt (Mary Katharine Semple) died two years ago at age 83. I feel she maybe the last Semple who still used that surname. My only other hope is that possibly Robert Semple, V married and had children.

I can't find any record of Semple's being buried in Point Coupee...so my records are incomplete.

Any help would be appreciated.
