Charles Barker 1800's

I am looking for information for Charles Barker in the mid to late 1800's. I have been told (but have not verified) that he was murdered and thrown in the Atchafalaya River. He was married to Mary Ann (or Mattie) Barker. They had at least one child, Charles Luther Barker (born about 1871). Any info about this or any other Barker would be helpfull.
