Searching for a Funeral Home in 1840--60s at Rocky Mount

My gr-gr-grandfather was Col. Almanzon Huston. He served in the military with Gen. Sam Houston (no relation). Almanzon lived at San Augustine, Texas. While on a business trip for the military, coming home from Washington, D.C., he became ill and went to his daughter's home at Rocky Mount, LA., dying while there. We have searched for years for the location of his final resting place. We have the copy of a letter written by his daughter, mentioning about his deatrh. But, she doesn't mention anything about his burial. I am wondering if he may have been buried in Rocky Mount. Does anyone know of a funeral home that was there back in the 1840s, 50s and 60s?

Thank you very much. Respectfully, Rev Marge at: margeisrael@aol.com
