I work here at the Ouachita Parish Library, and we have a book here called: Fading Textures: Vintage Architecture, Industry, and Transportation in Northeast Louisiana
by Lee Estes. It has several pictures of old Desiard street. I don't know if it has the area you are looking for, but it might help. You can buy it from Amazon.com for about 40 dollars, or order it through Interlibrary loan at your library.
