Theresa McFadden, a great researcher, sent some great material about Gilbert Antoine de St. Maxent who came to Louisiana about 1747 from Longy, Lorainne, France. It would be logical to assume that he was the progenitor of our Maxents. His father was Gilbert Antonie de St. Maxent and his mother was Elizabeth LeCocq.
He married Elizabeth La Roche 31 August 1749 in St. Louis Cathedral. They had nine children of whom six were especially noteworthy. They were very important.
I am just now getting started on this part of the family and other individuals as I was busy with an overview/outline. My resources are limited as I now live in Austin. TX and our library is closed for years.
It would be great to learn more about these and other ladies. OK, I am a feminist.
