1850's logging accident in Bastrop LA - where buried?

Hi,

My elusive ancestor, William Cain, Died between 1855-1857 in a logging accident. I have 2 Bastrops, TX and LA.

I can't find him in Texas.

Does anyone know how i can find where or if there is a William Cain buried around that time period, and how i can find information on accidents in that decade? I believe the 1855-1857 time frame is accurate.
