Looking for anyone with information about the family of James Little Daniel or Daniels. He was the son of Enoch and Susan Daniels. Enoch Daniels)moved his family to the Parish around 1855 from TN. They lived in Prairie Mer Rouge just east of Bastrop. It is my understanding that son James owned at or more than 1,300 acres of land in the area. His brother W.J. Daniels lived there also. Another brother Samuel was also a resident but for how long is not known.

I have found that a sister, Susan Daniels, married a Godwin or Goodwin but can locate no more on that. I have not seen any information showing that Enoch had a child named Susan but his son W. J. did have a daughter named Susan. Of course this was the name of Enoch's first wife.

I feel there must be graves of this family somewhere and land records. I am wondering if there might be someone in the area with information about possible gravesites for this family and who might check land grantor/grantee records and even wills, marriage, birth, death information that I know must be available in Morehouse Parish as the family lived there for years. I am thinking it may be possible the Daniel family members may have been buried on their family lands in Mer Rouge. I live in SC so would appreciate it if someone would help me with the LA information as it is quite a drive for research in this area. I would be happy to assist in my own way in your research if you need any information from NC or SC as I have access to both.

My line is connected to that of Susan Daniel's, Enoch's wife and James Daniel's mother. I believe there may actually be additional Daniels family ties through my family line and am attempting to trace those possibilities.

Thanks for any help you may offer.

Betty Raynor
