Cathy- I lived in Jennings, LA which is 19 miles from Crowley and know that during my growing years and for many of my years living in Jennings there was a Jack Hildebrand in Jennings, I suspect he may be your uncle because his age would be near my fathers and they were friends. There is even a building that was very far ahead of it's time in Jennings and was called the Hildebrand Building for many years, Jack had a furniture store there for a long time. My Dad bought a bedroom suite for my Mom from the store in the 1930's and I still have it.
Ok, I know I haven't giving you any exact info and I can't offer any specifics at this time but I can point you in a direction that may help. Call or find an email for the Carnegie Library in Jennings, LA and see if someone can send you copies of any info they have there, especially in a book that was written a few years back. I THINK it was written by Jack Hildebrand, it is a history of Jennings and the people who helped it grow. At this moment the name of the book slips my mind but if I find it on my trek this weekend in our state library I will check it out for you. I will be gone until Sunday but will check my email so let me know if you succeed with the library in Jennings. Good Luck.
