The baptism of a "Jean Dominique" MERCIER is abstracted in ARCHDIOCESE OF NEW ORLEANS SACRAMENTAL RECORDS, Volume 11, page 303. He was born 21 Apr 1814 and baptized 14 Aug 1814 at St Louis Church in New Orleans. His parents are given as "Jean, native of the parish of St Surin of Bordeaux in France, and Josephine NANTAIS, native of Cap Francais on Santo Domingo". His sponsors are Dominique GA_?_ and Marie Magdre DUCHANCE, his grandmother. Copies may be obtained from the Archdiocese.

Baptism abstacts of several siblings of Jean Dominique list Josephine's surname as AUBIN or OBEN or ROBIN.
