I am looking for any information on the Anthony, Reed, or Cutrer families that lived around the Folsom area in the
mid to late 1800s and early 1900s. James Anthony was married to Barbara Cutrer. According to the grave marker, Barbara was born 1864 and died 1945. James died sometime shortly before 1898. He was killed in a horse and wagon accident. James and Barbara had the following children: Cass B.; Richard, Dorveal/Darvill Andrew; James/Jimmy; Elizabeth/Lizzie; and Ado.
I believe that Cass married a Tina Pierre; Richard married a Salley Holton; Dorveal married Rosa Winona Reed and Lizzie married Augustine Baham. Ado died during World War I ; and can't remember who Jimmy married.
According to a grandson, James Anthony Sr. had brothers, Monroe, Millard and Charlie (possibly more, but that was all he could remember). Barbara Cutrer Anthony and husband James are buried in the Neal Cemetery, on Neal Rd. off Lee Settlement Rd. near Folsom, La. I found the marker for Barbara but found none for James Anthony Sr. There was also a marker there for Ado Anthony the son who was killed during World War I.
I found a census record in 1850 with Joseph Antony and Varella (sp. could have been Narella or Marella). Children were James; John; Elizabeth and Raymond. This James could be the James I am looking for or could be 1 generation farther back. Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
I am also looking for info on a Sarah Ellen Reed, who is said to have been all or most all Indian. The Reeds lived in the same area as the Anthonys, but I am not sure if it was St. Tammany Parish or Tangipahoa, as I found census in both parishes. I believe that some of Sarah Ellen Reed's children were: Haze Reed; Disico Reed; Ancie B. Reed; and
Rosa Winona Reed and maybe others. I have no idea who her parents were, nor who the father of her children were. The Anthony's were of Spanish heritage.
I believe that Sarah Ellen was born ca 1852 and died ca 1935/39. The Reeds are buried in Briar Patch Cemetery between Husser and Loranger, La. I also found a John Reed and wife Jane buried in Briar Patch in the same row as Saral Ellen. The dob for John Reed was ca 1815, and wife Jane was about the same time. These would fit as Sarah Ellen Reed's parents. The Reeds are said to be of American Indian heritage. I am hoping there is someone out there who will have some info on this family.
Please e-mail me direct if anyone has anything at all.
