I am a Deschamps descendant. The name Des Champs is of French Oriain. Des is the plural of de and means "of" in English, and Champs is the plural of Champ which means field or estate. Deshon in England -the name was anglicized to Deshon. it was frequentily found among the army leaders of England. Deschamps in Canada- The French name was never changed in Canada. Two Arcadian French in Nova Scotia, bore the name Deschamps..John and Nicolas Joseph.(my line) Deschamps/Deshon/Dishongh/Dishong and De Shong in the United States the name Deschamps underwent a number of changes. My ancestors were the Dishongh of San Jacinto and Walker County, Texas.
