Dear L. J.,

I did some research for a friend and that is why I have Doguet's in my database, even tho' I am not a Doguet descendant.

Louisa Doguet was born June 04, 1871 in St. Landry Parish - bt. Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ville Platte, now Evangeline Parish, LA.

She was the daughter of Oneil & Louisa Fontenot. This is her ancestry: Oneil, Augustin, Etienne, Gabriel

Source of her birth record is Southwest Louisiana Church & Civil Records by Rev. Donald J. Hebert, Volume 11, page 107.

SWLR begin with the year 1750 and end with the year 1909. You may find her marriage record to Felicia in this series.

I have a Felicien Doguet (Jean Louis & Hyacinthe Bersa) born September 14, 1860 (VP Ch.: v. 1, p. 147-B). He married Celimene Saucier November 17, 1882 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ville Platte, LA.

Volume 6, page 172 and Volume 39, page 246

You may find what you are looking for in Fr. Hebert's books.

In the book, "The Fontenot Family 1600-1903.." in the Bibliograpy on page 485 there appears a publication by Susan Burleigh Douget "Sous Cette Pierre Repose: Tombstone inscriptions of the Old St. Landry Church Cemetery, Opelousas, LA", 1993, Hebert Publications. You may find something there. "Sous Cette Pierre Repose" read "beneath these stones repose"

My grandparents, Pierre Morein and Marie Adiede Ortego, were residents of the Beaver community. I am a native of Ville Platte. My parents were Adam P. Morein and Alcina LeDoux.

Sincerely,
Rosie Wells
Birmingham, AL
