Tim - My Great-Great Grandfather Captain John A. Dixon was the original Captain of Co C. 12th LA Inf. He commanded Scott's Brigade at Bentonville March 1865 which consisted of the 12th and some Alabama Regiments. The John and Thomas you mentioned were in Co L. Have You looked into Booth's Record of Louisiana Confederate Soldiers? Also check out Guide To Louisiana Confederate Military Units by Arthur Bergeron Jr. Mr. Hugh Simmons who lives in PA is writing a book on the regiment. If I can help you further let me know.
