Sylvanus Britt, shot in LA

I am looking for info on a Sylvanus(Vanus) Britt who was a brother of my grandmother, Lilly May Britt. He was born 22 Sep 1881 in KY. and I found him on the 1900 census in Miss. Co.,MO I have been told that he was shot to death in LA at the age of about 20 or 22 , that would be abt 19001 to 1904
I would like to find out any info from a paper or death notice or anything
