Claiborne Guardian--Wednesday, 22 Dec 1880:
"Died at the residence of her son, S.R. Jarrell, near Colquitt in Claiborne Parish, Mrs. Eunice Jarrell, daughter of Josiah and Susan Caloway.She died on 22 November 1880 at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 16 days.The deceased was born in Wilks County, Georgia, on 06 July 1807.In her 17th year she was married to Willis M. Jarrell.a year afterwards he entered upon the ministry in the Baptist Church and remained and labored until his death in 1862.Early in life she joined the church with her husband and lived a consistent member until her death.The last 12 years of her life was spent amongst her children.She came to this parish in 1873 and remained here till death.She leaves 8 children, 5 sons and 3 daughters, to mourn her loss.She also leaves a great number of friends to whom she was known as 'Grandma.'"Signed M.C.J., Colquitt, Louisiana, 26 November 1880.
