Jonathan J. Chamberland (abt 1852-abt. 1952)

When I first started digging for my roots, my grandmother told me that her grandfather (Jonathan J. Chamberland) came from France to Texas on the Mayflower; or that he might have been born on the ship. Naturally, I wrote that down, but gave it little credence. I have found that there was a ship called the Mayflower that sailed from LeHavre to New Orleans in the 1850s. I can't find any Chamberlands or Chemilins on the ships lists. I am searching for the parents of Jonathan J. Chamberland. It is possible his father was the J. Chemilin found in 1860 New Orleans. There were two children in the household--John Chemilus, age 8, and Mary Chemilus, age 5. I have not located Jonathan in 1870. In 1880 he is living in Williamson Co., TX. His wife Marthey was, I believe, Martha Harris. I have not located a marriage record. I have found Jonathan in the census for 1900, 1910 and 1930. My grandmother said he was 103 when he died and that he was living with Aunt Jenny Sears when he died. I have not found any record of his death. Found obituaries for Jenny and Lon Sears in Wenatchee, WA, but nothing on Jonathan. Jenny and her family went from Colorado to Washington sometime after 1930. Jonathan gave his birthplace as Tennessee and Louisiana in the census records. When information was given for his parents, it was shown they were born in France. I am hoping someone can help me in my quest for Jonathan's parents and his sister Mary.
