I have ordered some wills or intestate files from Alabama Historical Commission - I think that is the correct name. These societies all sound the same to me. Commission, Society, Historical etc, etc, etc. You get my drift.

I will keep you posted. There is a Levi Howell in AL with a file. I forgot which county. I think were are talking about the same Howell family in regards to your Jackson. They went through Mobile - I think. It may take me a few months working a few hours a week, but I think the Jackson name fits in with the NC/SC Howell connection somehow.

Let me know what you find.
