Thank you for replying to my query.
On the 1880 census that is my GGreatmother Lucy. The census taker must not have paid close attention to the names of the people living in the household, because he didn't spell some names right and the last name of the head should be HENDERSON not Anderson.
The R. Emma Anderson listed is Lucy and Mary's sister, she was married to a Wm. Anderson. Emma and her dau. Amanda were living with sister Mary, too. This is where everything gets a little tricky. All the younger kids were living with older siblings in the 1880 census. We don't have a clue as to what the reason was for this situation, unless the mother passed away, but then what happened to the father. ????????????????????????????????????????
Now down through the years the name Ella Parker came into the picture, but no proof of her or anything on Thomas has ever been found to my knowledge.
It is quite possible that Thomas and Ella had a daughter named Mary. I believe Ella was possibly the 2nd wife of Thomas or maybe she was the only wife of Thomas. A lot of people researching this line have given up on finding out who my GGreatmother's parents were. As you can see I have not given up, but there may come a time when I do give up the search for her parents and her ancestors.
How are you related to the McDowell line? I assume you are since you repiled to query. Just wondering if maybe we are related and if so, what a great day for me, finding new family. I always enjoy finding new family members. :-)
If you have any information that could help resolve this elusive McDowell line mystery, I would certainly appreciate it. Any tidbit of info would be welcome. If I have any info that could help you I will share it with you.
Looking forward to hearing from you again.
If you would rather reply using my email address, please let me know and I will send it to you.
