Alvarez from Spain to St. Louis, Mo
Posted by: Pat (ID *****0345) Date: February 03, 2012 at 18:16:06

Information on Eugenio Alvarez, who was a military soldier from Spain who came to St. Louis mo by way of Louisiana. He had allegence to the King of Spain at that time.

I have since found that Eugenio's parents were Gustavo (auguste)Alvarez and Maria Bravo/Brabo. In a Sephardic book the names of Alvarez and Bravo are listed, but don't know if it is my Alvares and Bravo.

Also:
There were 3 Spanish soldiers, that came to St. Louis,Mo. Noted in History books
One was Francois Alvarez Hortiz
the two volume History of St. Louis City and County (published in the mid-1870s) it indicated much the same on the number of Spaniards
, one of a reported three Spaniards to serve in St. Louis during the Spanish Administration of Louisiana, was the son of Francisco Alvarez and Bernarda Hortiz, both of whom are reported to have lived in Extramadura Province of Spain.
