Looking to contact long lost family in Louisiana
I am writing this for my cousing, Michel Didierjean, of Lurdes, Lorraine, France.
In 1872, onee of his great grand fathers, Joseph Pierre
Nicolas Marchal, and an 18 year old son, Emile Sebastien
Marshal emigrated to Louisiana. They arrived from Liverpool
about the ship ST.Louis. They planned to work and get a home
in the area of White Castle, Iberia Parish, and bring Joseph's wife and 8 children there. Unfortunately, Joseph
died soon after arriving. His son remained and in 1877
married a Laura (last name unknown). They had Melanie, born
in Dec. 1879 inNew Orleans, Bertha born in May 1883 in White Castle, Eugene born in Sept. in White Castle, and
Andrew born in Jan. 1889 in White Castle. We believe Emile died Jan. 31, 1941 in White Castle. His family remained in
contact with their kin in France and during the two world
wars sent relief packages to them. There is no one now in
Lurdes that knows the addresses of their kin in Louisiana.
Hence this appeal to help locate them for Michel. He plans
to travel to the state in 2012 and do more research and would like to reconnect with them very much.
If someone can aid us on this it would be very much
appreciated. Your responses can as well be directly sent
to Michel as well at: [email protected]
Thank you,
William J. Rivers [email protected]
