Thank you for the bio on Isaiah. Since he was born in 1827, he could not be the father of the A.D. Ratcliff, born 1805, I am searching for. However, that is some really good Ratcliff info, and I will save it for future reference; also, maybe it will help someone else..
I checked on the name Allen D. Ratcliff which might be the one I am searching for. I found that marriage record you mentioned for 1826 which could work with the idea that A.D. was married prior to being in Catahoula Parish, La., in 1840, and then marrying Eliza M. Dupuy in Kentucky in 1844.
You also mentioned that there was definitely an Allen D. Ratcliff living in Catahoula Parish in the 1840's. Where could I find information to support that? The only thing I have found was the initials A.D. on the 1840 Census for Catahoula, then A.D. on the 1850 and 1860 Census for Concordia Parish.
I did find a connection on Ancestry.com with an Allen D. married to Blendia Davis, but they had his birtdate as 1809 and there were no children's names to try to match to what I have on A.D. Also, there was no other supporting documentation.
That source you cited, Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Northwest Louisiana, seems like a valuable resource. Where could I find a copy of that?
