I could tell from the BLM GLO Records for Louisiana that there are at least two men with the name Lazarus Smith. I think it is going to take someone who is directly connected to the family of Lilley on the 1870 Union Parish, Louisiana Census who is enumerated with John Gray to figure out if she is indeed connected to L. Smith family on the 1860 Union Parish, Louisiana Census. Thus far I find no posting or queries for this Smith family.
I do think that Lazarus Smith in the 1850 Lowndes, Alabama Census and L. Smith in 1860 Union Parish, Louisiana Census are probably the same family with Liddy listed in 1860 and Lydia in the 1850 Census, but it is definately doing to take a smoking gun to proof any connection to Lilley and John Gray.
Some record somewhere, somehow will show up in research, but a dead end has been hit agian on this quest.
