The grandson of Martha Evada Gray, Jim Walkup is who I have been corresponding with. He did have a copy of the article you had directed me to get on J. R. Walkup. It doesn't say anything about Spencer or Bessie but is an interesting story.
My purpose in writing today is that I sent Jim Walkup the pdf of the Land Documents which you found for Spencer Smith wherein is his signature and Bessie's. He knows of land which his grandfather James Robert Walkup had and has been trying to find the actual document like the one you sent to me. He did not see a way to get them from the Texas Land Office and ask me how I came to get the document. I told him it was you who found the document and sent it to me. Can you tell me where you obtained the pdf of the actual document so that he can find those he is looking for also? If your direct email appears and you give permission I can forward or email the documents he is looking for. I think he can find them himself if he knows where to search.
Thanks for all your help. I connected through ancestry.com with a relative of the wife of Jeremiah Smith, Spencer Clifford Smith's father (Jeremiah left the family and his wife, Ellen Jane Rodgers remarried Benjamin Abner Longbottom, so this is a Longbottom relative) who had posted a photograph of Spencer and Bessie's first born Alfratta "Alfa" Smith and her husband Oliver Casper Sikes. She doesn't have information on the Gray family, but was nice to put a face to a name.
As soon as I hear from you I will let Jim Walkup know where he can go to find view and download the actual land documents for J. R. Walkup.
