Gen. David Morgan was only defeated general at the Battle of New Orleans in 1814. His first wife was Elizabeth Middleton married her in Natchez. Hatton Middleton of Natchez was killed in indian massacre in Alabama prior to the battle of NO. I have drawn a blank in tracing these Middletons, many in South Carolina, one a Declaration of Independence signer. Any further info you have would be appreciated. Do not know if the Morgan you mentioned was Gen. Morgan's son, but there are other Morgan families in the area.
