Elvira Schrader, b. 1840, Prussia to New Orleans
Posted by: Thomas Jones (ID *****0652) Date: October 15, 2010 at 08:42:41

According to US census records, Elvira Schrader was born in 1840 in Prussia. She immigrated to New Orleans about 1860 and married Jacob Heitman, also of Prussia, in 1862 in Orleans parish. Jacob died about 1873 at age 46. Elvira died in 1924 in New Orleans. She had four children, Louisiana (1863 - after 1930), Pauline (1867 - 1897), William (1871 - 1932), and Adam Alexander (1873 - 1908). The only one that seems to have married and had children is William.

I have as yet been unable to find Elvira in any passenger lists. The closest match I can find is an "E C Schroder", age 17, who arrived in New Orleans on the 'Telemach' in 1859 with Carl (age 57) and Catherine (age 14). I would really like to link Elvira with her family in Germany, but have hit a wall in doing so.
