Christopher of France, New Orleans, Bayou Teche, Nashville TN
C. C. Christopher is said to have been brought to the New Orleans area early in his life. He is thought to have married a Mary Smith. He later owned a plantation on Bayou Teche. He became involved with speculating in slave sales and moved to TN, only occasionally coming back to Louisiana. He disappeared in about 1847 or so while transporting a group of slaves. He had a daughter named Lucinda Christopher (24 May 1837-16 Sep 1868) who married Joseph Franklin Hathaway 18 May 1848 in Memphis, Shelby County TN. Does anyone know of any Christophers' who were well off in the Bayou Teche area of Louisiana? Anyone familiar with this line?
Sylvia Hathaway
