Lee Family in Louisiana ~ Mary C. Lee circa 1800's
Posted by: Lynn Aucoin (ID *****0055) Date: October 29, 2009 at 07:40:21

According to her death notice in the Daily Picayune;
Mary C. Lee Valley (a native of Louisiana)
D. 27 DEC 1896 (age 81 years and 6 months){B. abt 1814/LA}
Widow of the late Charles Valley.

The funeral took place at the home of her son, Captain Christopher Valley. He was a river pilot and was the founder of the Louisiana River Pilots' Association and a member of the Crescent River Pilots until his death 10 MAY 1903.

Not much information other than that the census notes that Mary's father was born in Louisiana, her mother New York. I cannot seem to find her as a Lee. I first find her in the 1870 Census as a widow. Then again in the 1880 Census as a widow. Both times living in New Orleans, Louisiana.

I'd like to find information about Mary, her parents and siblings.

Thank you.
