Archer/Archie
Posted by: Tiffany Archie Morgan (ID *****3035) Date: September 23, 2009 at 18:52:05

I am interested in my family history and have found that my branch of Archie also spelled their name Archer (afro-american as well)

We have found that we do have family in Mississippi, California and gg grandparents migrated from Virginia.

My Great Great Grandfather was Ed Archer-a Frenchman) (married Matilda) they say Matilda was from Africa. Ed played the fiddle and they lived around Louisiana.

Ed must have passed first because I found that Matilda moved to Huntsville, Texas with my Great grandfather Dennis Archer (married Sarah Walker-part white, her father was that of the slave owner).. .we believe the Slave owner's name was Archer... Dennis and Sarah parents of my granfather Meachum Archie (the name changed from Archer to Archie (his brothers: Raymond, Toy, Buddy, Virgil, I can remember the rest, his sisters I can't recall their real names).

Any information would be greatly appreciated
