Bastrop area family named HIGMAN--Christ Church Cemetery
Posted by: Terri Rine Dance (ID *****2690) Date: August 11, 2009 at 15:44:23

Anyone know more of these folks or origins?

This group may/should be the family of my gg grandmother Florence Higman:

In the 1850 Census they were in Columbia,South Carolina:
John Higman; born in England about 1819
Mary wife
Children:
Anna
Abraham (or sometimes Abram or W. Abram)
Adelaid
Emily
FLORENCE
John

The family moved to Louisiana (around 1858 possibly)
Father John Higman served in the 5th Louisiana Regiment in the Civil War.

W. John or John W. Higman and his wife Mary Rebecca Flynn are buried in Christ Church Cemetery in Bastrop with their sons James Brisco Higman and W. Abram Higman (and their wives).

Abram Higman served in the 12th Regiment.

Thanks so much if you can reply!
