In Reply to: Strohmeier (Stromeyer) family information by Karen Burns of 18908

I am also researching Frank Strohmeier and Catherine Carey.
Frank and Catherine are my great great grandparents.
Frank died in 1910 Dubuque, Iowa and Catherine died in 1899 or 1900. There is a an obituary for Frank in the Dubuque Telegraph Herald. There is no death record for Catherine in Dubuque, County, Iowa. She appears in the 1899 Dubuque City Directory and then is gone in the 1900 Census.
They are buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery just outside of Dubuque, Iowa. There is a burial record for Frank, but not for Catherine. They are supposedly buried together and their gravestones were updated 25-30 years ago by their granddaughter Vanita Meyer. There is one major problem, no one can find their headstones in the cemetery. The Funk family, (Mary Strohmeier married Charles Funk), has searched the cemetery for ten years and no one can find the graves. I went to look myself last year without any luck. There is a picture of Frank, Mary and Frances Strohmeier in Dubuque, Iowa dated 1903.
Where are you located and how are you related to Frank and Catherine?
