Smith Matthews of IN died helping with or going to a fire in New Orleans in the 1890's any news clippings of this?

Smith was the son of Alfred M. Matthews and Mary Hardwick

Smith was a Civil War Vet for the North

Smith's third wife Laura Chowning was not with him in LA at this time.

Smith was born 2 April 1846 in Moorsville, IN

Married to Mary Eliza Gordon 4 June 1865 Coles Co IL

Smith became a widower 8 June 1866

Married Martha Elizabeth Gowin-Matthews 0 Oct 1867 Coles Co IL They had 3 children

Divorced sometime between June 1872 and the marriage to
