Dear Linda,

How are you related to these people? That is the only way to make the right connection. Don't give personal information on people who are still living.

Start with yourself, subtract 20 years for your parents and another 20 for grandparents, etc.

There are so many places to look. If your ancestors are deceased and you know which funeral home took care of their arrangements, ask the funeral home to give you a copy of their death certificates. The funeral home is required to report deaths to Social Security and they should have copies in their files.

Our ancestors who were still living in the early 60s during the Johnson Administration were assigned a SS# so they could collect Medicare benefits; even if they did not pay into the SS System they were issued a SS# so they could collect SS benefits. My mom never paid into the system but she collected as my father's wife and dependent.

I found the following individuals on the Social Security Death Index. Para seems to be the correct spelling for this group.

Charley Para b. 22 Jan 1898 d. Sep 1944 in Jefferson Parish, Westwego, LA.

Alexie Para b. 12 Jun 1902 d. Oct 1986 Jefferson Parish, Westwego, LA.

Alexie Para b. 13 May 1941, d. 13 Sep 1992 Jefferson Parish, Westwego, LA

Lydia Duval b. 23 Nov 1914 d. 06 Dec 1923 in Jefferson Parish, Westwego, LA 70094. Lydia was the d/o:

John Clifton Duval, b. 14 Dec 1876 in St. Mary Parish, bt. MC Ch.: St. Clotilde, v.1, p. 43. John was the s/o Jean Alonzo Duval & Felicianne Doiron.

Elmire Vining's parents remain unidentified, however during the time period I searched for her, there were several Vining families who were living in St. Mary Parish who attended MC Ch.: St. Clotilde where they married and where their children were baptized.

Most libraries have a subscription to The census is a good place for you to search. Ask your librarian for help.

The information you are looking for is there. Ask older members of your family for help.

On a personal note, I am a French-speaking native of Evangeline Parish, LA. Twenty years ago I retired from the University of Alabama in Birmingham where I was an Editorial Assistant in the office of the Director of Medical Center Publications. For those who are interested, I will do research. My fees are modest and my resources are the best. What I do not have in my own library at home I can usually find at the Birmingham Library which was reported to have the second-best genealogy research library in the Nation!

I hope you and yours have a Holy, Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year.
