stolen son raised by grandparents

We know that James M.Patterson was raised by his grandparents in 1870 in Rapides Parish,LA. How they came to have the child is unknown and speculation grows. By 1880 he was known as their son. His father James Newton Patterson died in Camp Rondo Ark. of measles and never got to war in the Civil War.

The mother of James M. Patterson was Lucy Ann DODD who married James N.Patterson in San Augustine Co.TX just before the war. Lucy Ann Patterson's lawyer collected the belongings of the deceased soldier and his final pay and then Lucy Ann ( Malissa or Marilla) Dodd Patterson was lost to time.

The little boy, grew up and married a Rougeou woman.Spelling may be different? I think her name was Atrimise and she may have died 14 Sept 1940, unknown. We think James M.Patterson may have died 11 March 1931 and his birth was summer of 1862.

Does anyone know of the ROUGEOU family or PATTERSON of Rapides Parish or Morehouse Parish, LA? This couple may have born 3 or 4 girls, lost in time to marriage: VELMA PATTERSON, HATTIE PATTERSON, ESSIE PATTEERSON and a possible brother: N.M.(NEWTON OR NEWT)PATTERSON.? AND A POSSIBLE WIFE: HATTIE PATTERSON?
thanks sincerely for any help or ideas.
