I appreciate you looking. As confusing as this may sound the name in Pennsylvania was changed to McDermit or McDermitt. The family name was Dearmond (or D'Armit or Dearmit) in the mid 1700s to the early 1800s. The family that stayed in Huntingdon and Blair Counties kept the surname however the family that moved to the next county away changed the surname to McDermit. Therefore the family in LA would be Dearmond but the family that went to see them would be McDermit.
