Mattie Carney Young Zimmerman
Mattie was the oldest living direct descendent of James Goodman Young who settled the area known as (Buhler's) Plains, Louisiana in what is now East Baton Rouge Parish near Zachary, Louisiana.

Zimmerman, Mattie Carney Young "Honey" A resident of Meadville, Miss., for the past 3 1/2 years, she died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Meadville. She was 95, born Sept. 15, 1911, in Zachary to Dr. Isaac Townsend Young and Eunice Lilley Carney Young. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for the state of Louisiana. She was a longtime member of Plains Presbyterian Church, member of League of Women Voters and enjoyed painting, sewing and continuing her education and helping others. She requested that her body be donated to Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans. Graveside service will be held at a later date in the Young Family Cemetery in East Baton Rouge Parish. She is survived by a son, Wilmot Zimmerman, Baker; daughters, Betty Weis, Louisville, Ky., and Eva Fair, Apache Junction, Ariz.; many special nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, Carol Z. Dixon, Meadville, who was her caretaker, Jodie and Julie Weis of Lexington, Ky., David and Julie Weis of Nashville, Tenn., Karen and Rick Nation, Taylorsville, Ky., Artie Zimmerman, Brett and Leslie Zimmerman, Bart and Tracey Zimmerman, all of Zachary, Emily Ann Fair, Livingston, Texas, Steve and Doreen Fair, Farmington, and DeLea and Jeff Thomas, Aztec, N.M.; numerous great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
